We should show respect to other people.  This philosophy is an integral part of the professional environment we aim to foster at Funds For Learning®. The concept of treating others with respect is an idea that most people accept. But what does it mean to demonstrate respect? I think it may be easier to illustrate a lack of respect. For example, I didn’t feel respected when:

Those are examples of what not to do. I want to know what to do. How can I be better at giving respect? To help me, I have made a list of respect actions – let’s call them “respections”— to help guide my thinking and my actions towards deeper levels of respect.

List of Respections

I endeavor to show you respect with the following respections:

  • Respect your time by not wasting it
  • Respect your intelligence by not belittling your thoughts
  • Respect your priorities by supporting them
  • Respect your authority by following your instructions
  • Respect your opinion by listening to you
  • Respect your point-of-view by considering it
  • Respect your needs by serving you
  • Respect your ideas by promoting them
  • Respect your environment by giving you appropriate space
